Cool Video: It’s a Dead Man’s Party
on September 24, 2009 at 03:00Well-known fact about me: I am obsessed with Halloween. On a related note, I love anything Tim Burton and Danny Elfman touch. Therefore, I am a giant fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride. Furthermore, I love the band Oingo Boingo‘s odd style. If you don’t know, Oingo Boingo‘s lead singer is Danny Elfman, the composer who does pretty much all of Tim Burton’s films’ soundtracks, and who sang the songs for Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Follow? Well, here is an Oingo Boingo song, “Dead Man’s Party,” with an accompanying video mash-up that combines The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride. Confused yet? Just watch and enjoy.
As it gets closer to Halloween, more and more of my posts will be Halloween-related. If you don’t love it as much as I do, I apologize in advance.

The song is “Dead Man’s Party,” the album is “It’s a Dead Man’s Party.” The video is titled incorrectly if they were naming the track.

I see. I just went with what they titled it. I’m not sure who made this video, actually, but I assumed they knew enough to give it the correct title. Oh well, I love the title of the song and album just the same

Oh man this takes me back to my childhood. Apparently I would listen to weird music in elementary school and the teachers would not like it when I sang the songs in class
Muhaahahahahhaha!

Have you ever seen Forbidden Zone? If not, it sounds right up your alley, seeing as it’s directed by Richard Elfman, and features Oingo Boingo. The new colorized version is available on dvd and for download on the Rifftrax website.
Now I’m going to go admire my Farewell DVD, since the cheapest you can get it now on Amazon is $75, used.

Awesome! I just googled it and it sounds like something I’d enjoy. And wow, $75 used? Must be quite an item…

Oh, it’s one of my favs. I’m hardly ashamed to say that I can sing along with every song (and do- I bought the soundtrack), and it’s on a list with Coraline, The Corpse Bride, House of 1,000 Corpses, A Muppet Christmas Carol, and a few others that I have on all the time in the background while I draw. Great stuff.
